FlowCardia, Inc. is a medical device company founded in 2002 to design and develop innovative technologies to facilitate the crossing of totally occluded coronary and peripheral arteries. Chronic Total Occlusions (CTOs) are considered one of the last major clinical challenges in interventional therapy. The historic absence of safe and effective CTO recanalization devices and high restenosis rates of bare metal stents in CTOs have been major reasons the majority of CTO patients are still referred to medical management and bypass surgery.
The new FlowCardia CROSSER™ System coupled with very recent data supporting significantly lower restenosis rates for Drug Eluting Stents in CTO's may dramatically increase the number of interventionally treated CTO patients.
